Time to say goodbye to Christian! All of us go to a nice restaurant for dinner. This was a nice note someone left on the wall.  Posted by Picasa

All the Wall Street teachers, lab instructors and receptionists. Christian is on the far right with his arms around his girlfriend/fiance Karla. Soon he'll be heading back to California.  Posted by Picasa

The Pilsener Cup. LIGA (Quito, the capital of Ecuador) v. DEPORTIVA CUENCA. This is my first professional soccer game. I end up sitting with the enemy--Liga--because my friend is from Quito. Never have I seen so much craziness at a game. In the end, Cuenca won, 2 to 1. You can imagine, by the passion here, the extreme state of depression the Liga fans entered once their team lost.  Posted by Picasa

Quito fans put on their own pre-game show by lighting sparklers and fireworks right in the middle of the crowd. Throughout the game I think I may have heard 15 different Liga chants (the name of the team from Quito). Some of these involved running up and down the bleachers together, pushing everyone down in the meantime. Good times.  Posted by Picasa

Torches hand-made for you by passionate Liga (Quito) fans.  Posted by Picasa

Let the games begin...Cuenca in Red, Quito in White.  Posted by Picasa

Quito scores and the fans go NUTS. Everyone screams, chants, yells and runs to the bottom of the bleachers to jump up on the fence and cheer on their team.  Posted by Picasa

Armed Police Squad separate the Cuenca fans from the Quito fans.  Posted by Picasa

Cuenca fans to my right...I sit with the enemy. Posted by Picasa

Happy Cuencano fans still pouring out of the stadium.  Posted by Picasa

A post-game party...salsa dancing at La Mesa before, and now a late night campfire at a local park. Anything goes in Ecuador.  Posted by Picasa

Welcome to Cojitambo.  Posted by Picasa

A Sunday afternoon at Cojitambo. Alvaro took me, Jill and Agi on a little excursion up this mountain which contain ruins. We climbed up the cliff on the left (I think that's the cliff).  Posted by Picasa

Beautiful view from the top of the cliff.  Posted by Picasa
